I received my first vaccine on April 13th, 2021 and my second dose on a May 5th, 2021. At this time I was an active snowboarder, going to the mountain every single weekend and as often as i could during the week. I was working out in the gym 4 times per week up to two hours each day and weighed a healthy 126.4lbs. I was struggling with fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease as well as some mental health things, but I was on medication i have been on consistently for 4 years, eating healthier than I ever had been and exercising almost daily.
A week and a half after receiving my second dose, my medications stopped working. When I say this I mean that these medications were to help control pain and inflammation in my nerves and joints and the other medications were used to control and manage my mood disorders. I started having trouble regulating my emotions and my depression was getting to the point where I was having suicidal ideation as well as beginning to contemplate self harm. All things my medications had been controlling for the last 4 years.
On June 29th, 2021 at about 3:30pm my body went into uncontrollable tremors. I couldn’t walk, feed myself, or stand unassisted. I was rushed to the emergency room about 8pm and they treated me like I was nothing more than a drug seeking crazy person. Two days later I began clicking, humming, and whistling and by then end of the day, July 2nd, 2021 I could no longer speak properly. I have been to the ER three times and admitted once. All three times they treated me like I was nothing. They treated me like my life didn’t matter and this was all in my head and I was faking it and making it up. They tried to have me committed to Western State Mental Health Hospital and continue to treat me like I am a waste of their time.
I have seen 2 neurologists who have tried to give me a conversion disorder diagnoses and have also told me this is in my head. I can no longer walk unassisted. I am 35 years old and I now have to use a walker, cannot speak properly, cannot pick up my two year old son, can no longer drive and am terrified everyday that I will completely lose use of my legs. I don’t remember what my voice used to sound like and for the first few weeks my children were afraid to be close to me, hug me, sit with me or let me talk to them. It is now August 5th, 2021 and while my tremoring has gone down, I still cannot walk or stand without assistance, drive and I now weigh 114.6lbs. I have lost considerable amount of weight in 4 weeks and I’m scared every single day.
I want to be seen. I want to be heard and all I have been asking for from the beginning is to have this vaccine ruled out. If they feel so strongly that this is not what caused or contributed to what happened to me why can’t we just rule it out? The same way you’ve ruled everything else out? I’m frustrated and scared and I just want to be heard.
