Vaccine Injury of Amanda
What was your life like before you received the COVID-19 vaccine?
I was living a mostly normal life. The only issues I had were pain from a back issue and fibromyalgia. But they were manageable and did not typically interfere with my day to day. I was able to work, go out with friends, and go on vacation. I was active with my dogs, taking them out on walks daily.
Describe the symptoms and the timeline of the reaction.
I got the vaccine only because had I not, I would’ve lost my job being in healthcare. I finally had just landed a fulltime position after years of working towards it. I got my first vaccine in Feb 21. I was a little groggy the next day but nothing crazy. I got the second dose on March 18, 21. The next day my life changed as I knew it. I began having GI issues with lots of nausea and vomiting. I was vomiting multiple times a day and I had a hard time keeping food down. I went to my doctor and they told me to take some over the counter stuff and get back to them. In weeks my symptoms did not improve so they prescribed some anti nausea meds and put in a referral for a GI. The GI had a long wait list but due to the frequent vomiting they squeezed me in. I was seen and I was five several different meds. When those did not work I was scheduled for an endoscopy. That came back with nothing. I was on the waitlist for an appointment with a specialist because I was also having some dizziness. I wasn’t able to get into her office until the summer. There I was diagnosed with PPPD. The specialist stated that meds could help the condition. Unfortunately I could not take any of them because they made me sick. Fast Forward in time to now. I am getting a second opinion from another GI that I started seeing in May 2023. I’ve done several different tests with not helpful results and am going for another endoscopy in a few weeks. I have missed a decent amount of work, I barely go out with my friends, and I haven’t been on vacation since 2019. I’m afraid of being sick in public or needing to leave early because of my stomach. I don’t get outside with my dogs as much as I like because of the nausea and dizziness that appears when I do a lot of looking down. In addition to the nausea, vomiting, and PPPD, I have also had tremors in my upper extremities. They come on randomly. Typically it seems to be more common place in my dominant arm. I don’t remember when they started. But it was sometime in the span of the last two years.
Describe the solutions that helped your symptoms
There have been no helpful solutions.
Which solutions were not helpful?
My regular doctor would not fill out a report. She doesn’t believe my injury came from the vaccine. Despite knowing my medical history and knowing I had none of these issues prior to the vaccine, she would not fill it out. She said that it could be coincidence in timing or that the vaccine triggered something that was dormant.
